Moving Furniture
Single-item moves, room rearrangements and small-scale clearance jobs handled with care across Middlesbrough.

The Lifting and Shifting Service You Need
There is a particular gap in the moving services market that we exist to fill. Full-service removal companies are set up for entire-house moves, with vans, crews and minimum charges that make them eye-wateringly expensive for a single piece of furniture. Pickfords and similar will charge £400 to move a piano. At the other end, hiring a man-with-a-van from a website often turns up someone who has read the listing twenty minutes before arriving and has no equipment to actually lift a wardrobe up a flight of stairs without scratching it. We sit between the two, with a small two-man team, the right kit, and a sensible price for the kind of medium-scale moving and lifting jobs that come up in everyday life.
The bulk of our moving work involves single-item or single-room moves: a wardrobe down a flight of stairs and into a daughter's new flat; a sofa from one room to another so the new corner suite can come in; an entire bedroom suite being relocated to a parent's house after a downsize. We bring two strong, careful workers, proper moving straps, blanket protection, and a genuine willingness to take the time to do it without damage.

Moving Jobs We Take On
Below are the typical moving and lifting jobs we are called out for. Note that we are not a full-house removal company — for that you need a proper removal firm — but we are well placed for single items, rooms, and small-scale moves.
- Single-item moves between rooms (sofa, bed, wardrobe)
- Single-item moves between properties (with our own van)
- Single-room moves: full bedroom or living room contents
- Garage and shed clearance to a new location or skip
- Loft clearance: emptying a loft space safely
- Disassembly and reassembly of beds and wardrobes for moving
- Awkward-access moves: tight stairs, narrow corridors, bay windows
- Piano moving (within reason — not for grand pianos)
- Moving heavy white goods: fridges, washing machines, freezers
- Moving safes, gun cabinets and other heavy lockable items
- Moving bath tubs, large mirrors and unwieldy items
- Removal and disposal of unwanted furniture at licensed sites
Awkward Stairs and Narrow Doorways
The moving jobs we are most often called for are the ones that have already been attempted and abandoned. The wardrobe that will not go round the bend in the stairs. The sofa that fits in the room but not through the doorway. The mattress that has to come out of an upstairs bedroom and down a tight Victorian terrace staircase. We have a knack for these, and a few tools that help — moving straps that put the weight on the legs rather than the back, blanket and cardboard protection for the corners, and the willingness to take a piece of furniture apart and reassemble it on the other side of the obstacle if that is genuinely the only way through.
Clearance and Disposal
We also offer clearance services for unwanted furniture and household items. This is often combined with moving work — a customer downsizes, we move the items they want to keep to the new property, and we dispose of the rest at the local Haverton Hill or Endeavour Recycling Centre, or via licensed waste contractors for items that need to go to landfill. We do not fly-tip and we have proper waste-carrier registration.

Quotes and Pricing
Moving jobs are usually charged at our two-man hourly rate, with a small fuel surcharge for moves between properties. Most jobs we can quote by email if you describe the items and the access. There is no callout fee. We cover Middlesbrough and the wider Teesside area.
